ABOUT US
THE CHALET
THE RESORT
Chalet Beau Soleil occupies the two upper floors of a large traditional mountain house, sitting in a prominent position overlooking the surrounding valleys and the ancient village church of Saint André, a building of special historical interest.
The chalet has been completely renovated over the last 18 months, quite literally from top to bottom!
A large entrance lobby, decorated in rustic mountain style original wood panelling welcomes you, with plenty of space for storing skis and boots or bikes, and having sledges / bum trays and a few pairs of old fashioned raquettes for guests use.
One side of the room is used as a library, a lovely space to chill out, with plenty of books and games for guests use. French doors lead from here out onto the large balcony, which stretches the entire length of the building - around 12m, offering uninterrupted panoramic mountain views.
From the entrance hall, stairs lead up to the 4 ensuite bedrooms, or a door takes you straight through to the large well appointed lounge with its wood burning stove and plenty of space to relax.
There is a smart TV so you can easily watch your gopro footage of the day or play on the chalet "wii" or log into your own netflix account, alternatively you can simply take in the mountain views from the sofas.
A door from the lounge leads straight into the modern well equipped kitchen with its range cooker and handmade 3m long table - plenty of space to seat everyone!
French doors also lead out onto the 12m long balcony which offers a large gas BBQ and seating for you to relax in the sunshine and take in the simply stunning views.
Upstairs, Beau Soleil boasts 4 large ensuite bedrooms, comfortably sleeping a total of 15 people, with all bedroom windows having front facing uninterrupted mountain views, 2 of which have doors opening onto the upper balcony.
Bedroom 1 sleeps 3 people with a double and single bed. Bedrooms 2 and 3 sleep 4 people in a double bed and bunk beds. Finallly bedroom 4 sleeps 4 people in a double and 2 singles.
All rooms have ensuite shower and toilet.
Bedlinen and towels are included in our rentals, and we prepare the rooms ready for your arrival.
Public parking is close by. You can drive almost to the chalet door for loading and unloading only.
Free WIFI and wood for the wood burner are also included in the price.
There is access to an 8 person outdoor hot tub with panoramic views, which can be used by guests between 8am and 8pm at an additional cost, only by prior arrangement at least 4 days before arrival.
We welcome well behaved pets by prior arrangement and at additional cost, but the only outdoor space included in the rental is the balcony. The ground floor of the chalet is occupied by the owners (completely separate and independantly accessed) and the garden is for their private use only.
Coming from Geneva, Valmorel Grand Domain is the first ski resort you reach in the Tarentaise valley in France’s Savoie region.
Valmorel Grand domain is a stunning french hidden gem. Nestled next door to its more famous neighbour les 3 vallees, and Paradiski areas a little further on, Valmorel is often overlooked by British skiers in their rush towards the bigger resorts nearby. This means the slopes here are in fabulous condition as they are not skied out, and there is rarely a queue to be had, even on the busiest weeks.
We often have feedback of "thank you for our private resort!".
With 165km of pistes, 50 lifts, 14 green, 25 Blue, 11 Red and 5 black pistes, It’s blue and green heaven for beginners and low intermediates, with mainly wide motorway runs from 2,030m in Valmorel (and up to 2,300m in Saint-François-Longchamp).
Novices have six areas, including two just for children.
There are snow parks graded from green to black, including the very tricky black Combe du Riondet snowcross.
Off-piste skiers wanting a challenge can hire a guide to tackle the Massif de la Lauzière, which is gaining a reputation among expert skiers who want a mountainside pretty much to themselves.
There is also plenty to do for non skiers, snowshoeing is particularly popular in the area as is relaxing in the hottub with panoramic mountain views and a glass of something fizzy!
In Summer,..
Right on the doorstep you have access to the most stunning marked trails for walking and mountain biking. Doucy station boasts a tennis court, an outdoor swimming pool and basketball court, forest trails to explore as well as regular organised outdoor childrens and adults entertainment in both the local station and at Valmorel.
The area is very popular for via ferrata climbing adventures for all levels, canyoning and white water rafting, or why not try ziplining over the valley or tandem parapenting or maybe visit the donkey sanctuary.
We are very centrally located to visit other popular areas with Annecy and its magnificent lake less than an hour by car, or summer glacier skiing an hour the other way! You can even pop over to Italy via the famous “St Bernard Pass” by early June, depending on the snow clearing!
Road biking is also extremely popular during the summer months with lots of challenging local routes, not least the famous Col du Madeleine - often a feature on the Tour de France route - for which there is easy access from Doucy.
